A break in Lanzarote provided the opportunity to explore some of César Manrique’s buildings.

The connection between landscape and architecture was evident, boundaries between inside and outside blurred. Sadly it seems since Manrique’s death, the island has memorialised his architecture and not progressed with the ecological and architectural mission he began. It would be great to see a new, young architect doing new things inspired but not limited by Manrique on the island and to continue exploring the possibilities of the volcanic, martian landscape of Lanzarote.
